What exactly is joint pain? Joint pain is simply referring to any aching or discomfort in the joints of the body such as the shoulders, hips, elbows and knees.
We are here to discuss some of the most common reasons that you may be experiencing joint pain.
Causes of Joint Pain #1- Arthritis
Arthritis is one of the most common causes of joint pain with 54 million people suffering from it. The two major types of arthritis are Osteoarthritis (OA) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). OA is caused by overuse of the joints while RA is caused by underlying medical conditions like autoimmune disorders where the disorder causes the body to attack the joints.
Causes of Joint Pain #2- Injuries
Joint pain can also be caused by an injury to the area surrounding the joint, and not necessarily to the joint itself. If the ligaments, tendons, or fluid sacs (bursa) surrounding or within the joint are damaged you can experience joint pain. If you have experienced an injury it is important to seek medical attention immediately so that your joint pain does not begin to worsen over time.
Causes of Joint Pain #3- Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia can be oftentimes mistaken for arthritis because of the joint pain that people who are diagnosed with it experience. Fibromyalgia is a widespread musculoskeletal pain disorder. It can cause everything from poor sleep, mood issues, joint pain, chronic fatigue, and more.
