LUMBAR DEGENERATIVE DISC DISEASE

Lumbar Degenerative Disc Disease is a condition that causes lower back pain and may cause pain to radiate from damaged discs in the spine. A lumbar spinal disc absorbs pressure and provides cushion between your vertebrae and allows the joints in the spine to easier.

Treatments for Lumbar degenerative disc disease include:

LUMBAR RADICULAR PAIN

Most people know this type of pain as Sciatica.  The condition causes pain to radiate from the lower back down through the leg. Lumbar Spinal Stenosis, which is narrowing of the spinal canal in the lower back, most often occurs when bone, tissue, or both, grow in the openings of the spinal bones. This growth can cause intense pressure on your spinal cord and can also irritate nerves that branch out from the spinal cord.

JOINT ARTHRITIS

Facet Joint Arthritis is a frequent cause of back pain, in which arthritis causes degeneration of this part of the vertebrae. This pain associated with Facet Joint Arthritis does not radiate down the leg(s). Spondylosis, describes symptoms related to degenerative changes in the spine.

COMPRESSION FRACTURES, TRAUMA, OR OTHER CRACKED VERTEBRAE

Compression fractures in your back are tiny breaks in bones that can be caused by things such as; osteoporosis, trauma, or certain types of cancers that often stabilize on their own in a few months. For some, the pain can be too extreme and supplementary pain relief is required. For these patients, Kyphoplasty is the recommended treatment method as it provides relief for patients experiencing compression fractures or other spinal fractures.

BULGING DISC

A bulging disc develops when a weakened and/or deteriorated disc begins to swell through a crevice in the spine, outside its normal housing. This condition happens when a disc shifts out of its normal position, usually slowly and over a long period of time. As the disc shifts, its inner liquid-like nucleus begins to bulge outward towards the weakest point in its hard outer casing, causing an uncomfortable amount of pain.

Intractable spinal pain is cervical, thoracic, or lumbar pain that is excruciating, constant, difficult to treat, and is often associated with radiation to the extremities.  Many patients have gone through multiple spine surgeries without relief.
